Interest Meeting at Tallwood High School

Last Tuesday, RISC held its first meeting at Tallwood High School (THS) in Virginia Beach, marking the establishment of a RISC chapter at the school.

Over 20 students from many diverse backgrounds attended the interest meeting, learning more about our story, our mission, and our plans for the year. RISC THS founder Amira and RISC founder Alejandro spoke to the students. Mr. Falls, the teacher sponsor of the club, was also present.

Tallwood High School is a very diverse place with first-generation and second-generation immigrant students bringing in cultures from all over the world. It also hosts the Global Studies and World Languages Academy, making it a perfect environment for immigrant-related community service and advocacy.

We are excited to collaborate with other student groups at the school and engage student members to celebrate immigrant cultures and work to make immigrants feel more welcome.
